Duties and responsibilities: occupational therapists
assistants and aides help patients, who are mentally, emotionally, or
physically Disabled adjust to handicaps and regain abilities to perform daily
living and self-care skills. They work under the supervision of occupational
therapists as part of a team with physicians, counselors, and physical
therapist.
Occupational therapy assistants work closely with patients
to observe them, help them, and make reports to the occupational therapists on
the patient’s progress and development most occupational therapy assistants are
employed at hospitals, and many work at nursing homes. Some work for schools of
the handicapped. Occupational therapy assistants may also work in
rehabilitation centers or at adult daycare centers.
Salary: $12,000 - $15,000
Educational requirements: Occupational therapy assistants
must complete a two year training program that includes clinical experience. They
must also pass a national examination to earn certification as a qualified
assistant.
